The Saving Righteousness of God

Romans 3:21-31

A great chasm lies between Romans 3:20 and 3:21. It’s a deep canyon, a wide gap separating our condition and God’s character. We’re sinful and God is holy. How can we bridge the gap? How can we go from one side to the other? We can’t. But this is where the good news begins: Paul informs us in verse 21 that God does for us what we cannot do. This passage is the heart of Romans. For it’s here that we see who we are, who God is, and what God has done for us. If there’s one passage of Scripture for us to become experts on, let it be this one.
