Following Christ in Humble Submission

1 Peter 2:13 – 3:12

The apostle Peter in his first letter tells us that as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, we are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, and a holy nation set apart for a divine purpose. Because we have been ransomed by the Lord Jesus as a people for his own possession, we have a responsibility to proclaim his excellencies—in which He pulled us out of spiritual darkness and into His marvelous light. But Peter surprises us by saying in order to proclaim the gospel of Christ effectively, we mustn’t bulldoze over people with our heavenly status. No, in fact, we should live humbly within the social orders of this world.
